About Me

My photo
I'm a nature obsessed artist who lives in an little house in a little vilage in the Highlands of Scotland.I wander around a lot in the wilds and spend time just looking at things like birds and moths and trees and rocks. The rest of the time I'm drawing or painting, making odd things out of old stuff and drinking giant cups of peppermint tea. Imogen Greene is my pen name. I like the way it sounds and it just kind of suits what I do.

In the studio today...

I've been busy today, first of all tidying the studio so that I can actually see the floor, I like to work in a tidy(ish) space but I have a tendency to create clutter when I'm painting, so many bits of reference material and scrunched up pieces of paper, I couldn't get into work until I sorted it. So when I did get down to work this fella appeared.

He needs a bit of tidying up, re photographed and then I'll put him in the shop tomorrow or Friday, along with this little birdie.

Some new pieces

I've done a few new pieces , ospreys, which we see locally, a fox and a golden hare who looks a bit ancient and wise. Golden hares are the most fantastic looking creatures don't you think? One day I will go to Ireland to see them - they really do exist, blue eyes and all!

I need to decide which to put in Imogen's Attic and which to keep for the show, at least two of them will be appearing in the shop over the next couple of days. Some days work just flows, I'm pleased this was one of those days, plus I took lots of breaks in the sunshine, it's been a while since we had any so I just had to make the most of it.

Fox and squirrel

Well, the conversation about showing some Imogen Greene work in the flesh went well, so from what I was planning- (a small box display of unframed pieces) we've now got a whole wall to fill and space for the unframed ones too! Sooo, as soon as I have enough work together, which will be a couple of weeks, I will be having my first Imogen Greene exhibition! I must, must, must first of all get some more new work into Imogen's Attic shop though, hmmmm, I can feel some all nighters coming on.....

These two are going into the exhibition but I will be doing some for the shop too, acrylic ink on plywood, what do you think?

A little more time...

Warbler Collection by Imogen Greene 2012

Now that I have a little more time , I can finally start on some new work for Imogen's Attic. I put a new little bird drawing into the shop last night and will be adding this one " Warbler Collection" at some point tonight.
I did this a few months ago and liked it so much I hung onto it for a while, as you can see I've started to work on old book covers and pages. I'm loving the textures and marks and the challenge of adapting my technique to the different papers. Now I'm ready to make some more I'm happy to let it go. I'm also going to visit a venue this afternoon to discuss showing some Imogen Greene originals. I find I'm much more productive if given a deadline so I'm initiating lots of different projects to keep me busy and focused. Wish me luck!

Hare of the day.

I just had a message from Jenna Odie that she has included my hare ACEO on her latest blog post.
There are lots of interesting collections of art and crafty things on her blog, all British made. Thanks Jenna! You can find the ACEO post here. The hare is one of a series of four that I made a while back, one is sold but the others are still in my etsy shop. I think this one is my favourite though!
